Hi Everyone,

Due to seasons being delayed for the past three years I decided to delay my back end trip to the river Dee by a week this year. Getting there was even tougher that in 2020 but again I made it. High water, warm weather made the fish inactive so it was a difficult fishing but the four of us managed 19 salmon during 5 days which I reckon is not bad. I was lucky to land the biggest fish of 101 cm. Below are some photos I shot through the week - enjoy !!

Can't complain :giggle: Some 25 minutes of fight and both reel and rod put to ultimate test. Not my biggest salmon caught in the Dee though but true this one was special.

A rare successful week on the Dee. Well done man.
What beats were you on ?
I recognise Kincardine photos.

That’s some curly kype on the big clonker. What weight do you recon he was?
Great result that’s nearly a fish each every day.

Thanks. I think 22-24 lbs. But the ghillie was conservative and reported it as 20 lbs. Doesn't matter that much actually. Very strong and healthy fish. Swam away right off - not much reviving needed.

It was tough. Kincardine, Park (south and North) and Aboyne Water.
In this current season I have to say that was a very successful week. Some nice heavy fish . When you are getting the odd fish it keeps you fishing, so well done for persevering and thank you for reporting a happier Dee story for a change

IMHO both Aboyne Water and Park have been the best beats of the entire river for a few years now.

Ive fished Birse but never Aboyne Water. The Lummels is unique.
There is some grim reading for some beats tho. Next beat up, 30 for their season and advertising for full time ghillie !!!.
Keirstream has had more than that himself this year.

I like to fish Jetty and Red Brae from Birse side. Red Rock is definitely the best holding pool and is best fished from Aboyne side.
