I'm looking for a Danielsson reel for a Loop Cross S1 12" #7 and debating whether to get a Control 7twelve or a L5W 6nine or 8twelve.

I already have a Control 8/thirteen but haven't had the chance to use it yet and I'm a bit hesitant to buy another without having tried the first.

Has anybody used a Control and found that they preferred the L5W or H5D?

Control 7/12 or the LW 8/12 is what I use on that size of rod.
I use the 6/9 on my switch.
That’s what works for me....

I use the L5W6/9 on my 10’ #8 and really like the combo. The reel is a delight to use and would highly recommend it. Tough, reliable and a decent weight.

If you opt for the L5W take the 8/12 which is a better match to the rod than the smaller 6/9.

At least 2 Forum members use the Control 7/12 on this rod and seem very happy with it.

It all boils down to whether you want the braking system.

Either one is a good choice, it just depends what you prefer.

I use the control 7/12 on a 12’4” B&W Shooting head rod and it’s a great match. The braking feature on the control is very useful and I love the anti-reverse too, once you use it in action I think you’ll be a convert. That said, the L5W is a great reel and you’ll not be disappointed.

If I play my cards right, Santa might be getting me the 6/9 or 8/12 for the switch rod. 🤞
