A variant of a fly I first tied in the 1990s.

I first tied it as an Irish version of the Kylie Shrimp that was getting a lot of attention in Trout & Salmon around that time. Even though the Kylie is a much prettier fly, this one caught me quite a few fish over the years.

The first ones I tied had a flat copper body and black floss front body, both ribbed with oval silver. This one has an oval copper rear body and black dubbing for the front.

Edit: I've found one of my original tyings of this fly. It seems it always had a dubbed front body. 😊

....its nice to see that the fish enjoyed it so much they chewed it to bits! I agree with them.

That's the reason I kept it Iain. 🙂

I have a few flies that got beaten up over the years that I keep together. Although I can't find the Purple Editor that I was extremely fortunate to land my biggest ever fly caught salmon on.

The fish was 15lb, so not that big compared to most people's personal bests, but a big fish for the Faughan. The hooks had almost straightened on it when I got the fly out of the fish. 😬
