I thought this might be a useful formula for those looking to cut their own shooting heads, I use it a lot and it saves a fair bit of time and guesswork.

Converting meters to feet.

Length in meters x 39.37 / 12 = Length in feet.

13.5m x 39.37 = 531.50 / 12 = 44.29'

Converting feet to meters.

Length in feet x 12 / 39.37 = Length in meters.

42' x 12 = 504 / 39.37 = 12.80m

NB, for the boffins and sticklers out there I have only went to two decimals so its accuracy isn't spot on. It will get your shooting head to within an 25mm/1 inch which is good enough for me!

0.3048 is the magic number. . . . . . Multiply or divide by this depending on whether going feet-metres (multiply) or vice versa, where you divide the metric length by this number . . . . . .
