A big speech! Firstly, yes option one regarding a specialist in his own field recommending his own product! Ie in this case his own river/job the trouble here james! (And i dont blame you in any way) i seem to be targeted by trolls! Repeatedly! Faceless trolls who get banned then re appear with more user names than "mr nice" (howard marks) sometimes they resemble car number plates, othertimes fishing tackle companies! They call me names like " cowboy builders" they have said i kill all my spring fish! Then they disappear only to reincarnat like a Phoenix from the ashes! Any moderator worth his salt, would do ip checks before letting them join again! But back they come! Quiet at first! Then as time goes by, they get cocky! Then barred only to reappear yet again. I think you have got caught up innocently in this, but like yourself i dont like my fishing portrayed as crap from someone who basically dosnt not know his arse from his elbow regarding the facts! But again back to the facts! The original thread was about the disgraceful conduct regarding the company! The other linked threads to follow were aggressive unnecessary and as previously said vastly aggravated by well known trolls! What has this season on thurso produced? Its two months since it started! Tweed is doing not too bad since the big water has dropped! Anyway i hope this has explained that its not a personal attack on your river!! Theres a lot of aggerating in the history here! And basically your head gillie! Was the main original instigator!
Tight lines regards m31

Just to show it was a joke comparison! It tells all when the head gillies PB is a 16 punder!
How many more times are you going to troll the head ghillie with PB 16 pounder ?

Nothing wrong with catching salmon of 16 lbs, many would welcome with open arms to grass any double figure fish , fishing ain't about bragging about how or who has caught the biggest fish ? bit like kids at school my dads a better fisherman than yours

You are 100% right about the "kids at school bit" nothing wrong at all with a double figures PB as long as your not trying to be clever about someone elses fishing! And blowing wind about other people's private group page! But how would i know? I suppose your justifiably correct in calling me a "cowboy builder"? Who are you? I notice you have now moved on to the original poster!! More or less saying he is fishing fictitious beats! What a " bacon slicer" of a troll you are!!

Blankersyde ? Take it you have only blanked on Bemersyde ? Nice beat, but a bit of a haul humping salmon back up the hill, Santa's Grotto ? never heard of that beat on the Tweed ?
It's a term of endearment that stems from the activities of one of the syndicate members there. I've had my share of salmon from all its pools. Not only is it a nice beat, but it also has one of the finest gillies I've ever had the pleasure of fishing with. If anyone is curious to see it it is the first of the two beats Paul and Bob fish here:

Santa's groto is the beat that recently renamed itself to make it sound like a brand of rolling tobacco.

Just what is your problem ? you are the troll always kickstarting Quote "You sound a bit like a builder i know! He specialises in timber frame houses! So what does he try and promote? You got it! Timber frame houses !! what gobbly gook !

Then you say I have moved on to the Original Poster ? N. P. ? I just asked about a couple of names he gave to a couple of Tweed beats ?

You need to get a life and stop stirring things up on here, End of ! Yes I know for sure you have to have the last word

Bemersyde ghillie Ian Farr has got to be the finest ghillie I have had the pleasure of fishing with , he never stopped grafting with all the rods on the day, & I never blanked on the day

Eleven fish landed in 4hrs beat 6 Morgan's Canal, I used to ghillie on the Thurso Still fish Beat I My mate had 5 further up which took it to 16 fish in 4 hours, a day to remember.
Thats 1 fish every 15 minutes, 16 in 4hrs to 2 rods

The 24 Thurso rods are for the private beats 2 - 13. Is your figure of 3022 for the whole river or the private beats only? If the whole river you'd need to add in the AA water on Beat 1, rods fishing the private beat and any activity on Loch More and above - agreed it doesn't change the maths that much!
The figure of 3022 is for the hotel beats only.
It does not include the AA association water on beat 1 or Lord Thurso's private beat.
It also does not include any fishing on Loch More or tributaries.

Anyway got the class Fishing magazine today " Trout and Salmon " , 10 page write up , on " A Thurso Summer" not often any river gets 10 page 👍. Fly fishers only, SO don't all go out at once emptying the shelves off newsagents etc
Depends on how many deposits they keep.😮😮

No 3 was a defensive thread so i got my say🤣 anyway at a wild guess the tweed must have grassed say? 50 springers! How many is the thursos current total? Remembering it opened up weeks earlier!
They have their runs at different times.
The figures are on post 83 and comparison can be made there.

With respect that does not provide a answer to my question! A very quick look at post 83 immediately raises the question of would it be correct or fair to assume that 250 rods were on average fishing the tweed on a 6 day week throughout the whole season? I would say not!

Very nice Mr Chessman, I would like to fish it if i ever get the chance, By the way have you learned how to cast a fast action 6wt with out breaking it?
Well I never! I was thinking of you only yesterday, Mr. Y! :)
I swear, it was the fish wot broke me, honest it was. But I'm glad he did - that Streamdance is still my favourite #6.
And, no, it's not a 5-piece yet! ;)

Definitely agree! Absolutely no comparison! But i dont think there ever was supposed to be? But a funny thread title! For something that wasnt ever supposed to be a comparison????
The problem here seems to be use of the term criticism where there’s a dichotomy of meanings.

Tweed risked being rained-off for most of a week when there was an autumn run, especially below Leader or Teviot but there was cheap back-up available on tributaries. Though the posh would turn up noses at that idea. Red fish were always caught upstream in autumn. Now it’s ruined in parts for purists by upstream spinning in summer.

Thurso features slack-water areas which many fly-fishers hate but I prefer. Bottom Tweed is not exactly Utopia either. Why argue ? Fish your preferred river. AG

I shall forever treasure your advice especially if you could enlighten me ?
...when everything appeared to have gone tits up, and no one had an answer, the old boy apparently would say, “oh well, keep buggering on”.

Treasure forever.

Yes, from his bath probably. The post does seem rather a stultifying one right enough. A river is a river - take it or leave it, I’d fish both any day but I would certify anyone paying £1500 for C & R save for Russia. Thank you.

Purists keep away if you dont like it! The rules are the rules! There will always be red fish! The thurso isnt exactly well known for a autumn dominance of silver bars! But "horses for courses" yes? And the bottom tweed might not be your cup of tea? But for me its performed brilliantly so " its a keeper" as far as i am concerned! And yes russia! Dosent interest me one little bit! But even now this country? Yes we can still make ones own mind up, to fish where we please! Remember "one mans meat, is another mans poison"
