Got an e-mail from one of the ghillies I fish with on the Naver, and the first springer came off there today. The pool was Potato Park which is the second pool down on beat 6, the lowest beat, and along with beat 5 the best early beat. The fish had no lice, but was said to be a very fine 16 pounder. January 19, not too shabby...

That's good news and thanks for sharing! Here's hoping it wasn't alone.

Cracking springer!

Taken from Facebook

‘LOOP team member Ruaraidh Tainsh strikes with a proper springer from Beat 6 of the River Naver in Sutherland today.

The fish weighed 16lbs and was caught on a 1.5inch Willie Gunn style conehead on a slow sink line. It was quickly photographed in the hands of Altnaharra Ghillie Peter MacGregor and released to continue its journey.

Great job guys!’
