Because of ruling out a no deal Brexit:

The pound has hit its highest level against the dollar since July amid hopes a no-deal Brexit can be avoided.

Sterling jumped more than 1% on Friday to over $1.24 against the dollar, its highest level in seven weeks.

The pound was boosted after a report in the Times said the DUP, Northern Ireland's largest political party, was prepared to abide by some European rules after Brexit.

However, the DUP swiftly denied the claim.

Despite this, sterling held on to its gains, and against the euro it was up 0.7% at over Ä1.12.

Interesting how it can be interpeted..
I read it as May ( no matter how hard working or tenacious she was) would not have got a deal across the line in her life time.
Borris the ignorant crashing bull arrives and we might have a deal before Christmas.

A bit like it you look at what Obama, the principled gentleman achieved in 8 years as president.
    Almost nothing.
Whilst Trumpy, the vile sexist, possibly racist, bullying, vain pathetic excuse of a privileged person has achieved more already.

And the currency speculators make a fortune.

Do you think it's the arrival of Boris that is raising hopes of a 'no no deal' Brexit, or the Benn legislation getting royal assent this week?

I'm not even going anywhere near the suggestion that it's OK to have sexist, racist, lying bullies in power if they achieve financial success and make their mark. If money and mouthing off are our only measures of what makes a nation great, then we are doomed. Anyone who can look at the USA now vs under Obama and think, you know what, we're better off, is deluded. The mid-states didn't think the coastal elite looked out for them - other than allowing them to cling on to their assault rifles, he's shafted them harder while making them believe he's on their side. That's not an achievement by any normal measure.

Brexit Party pact with Tories takes over Hartlepool Council - BBC News
Amazing that itís on BBC web site but nothing on the main news. Main story is about the man that heckled Boris and Bercow showing his true colours.

Interesting all this with the DUP today.

I wonder whether they will publicly deny they agree with whatever 'solution' is being discussed, and then when the vote actually comes, they will vote for it, catching those who will undoubtedly vote against it whatever it is (i.e. Corbyn et al) off guard.

    Oscar.

    Terrible. 🙄
What a nerve the man has in saying that he intends to make sure that this parliament follows the rule of law 😂😂

Cue squeals of indignant anguish from Johnson sycophants.

And no comment on the main point of the post. Re Hartlepool.
You could get a job at the BBC.
