    “River in good ply”

A phrase that has always niggled me - what the hell is a ply anyway?

Simon, I confess that I do still overhead cast, and with a double taper line, much to the amusement of our team, but at least I don’t use “fully dressed flies” or Tobies.

"Had a couple of fish with the dropped minnow" - now that was a dark art. I can still smell the formaldehyde!
If you want to be happy for a day, get drunk....if you want to be happy for life, go fishing.

Remember fishing years ago with the "Sprat" like a natural goldfish with fins, going back years on the Nith and Border Esk
