We always used to struggle with the Grayling when the River was up and coloured.
Dace and chub didn't mind at all though.

My local river has loads of fishable water between 50 - 70cm. At 80cm itís tricky to wade some of the better spots, but remains workable. At 1m it changes to fishing off the bank in a couple of spots and above that height the strength of flow renders fishing pretty pointless even for the bait guys.

Since the start of August there have been just 3 weeks below 70cm and none since October! I was out casting a new line last weekend and it was getting down towards 80 and clear. A bit of rain last night and weíre back above 1m again!!)&&(&@

It always seems to happen just in time for the weekend and the forcast for next week ainít looking to great either, with the snow that was up in the hills and with the rain that fell last night the river Annan is over 3m and rising, the Clyde is pushing 2.5m, the Nith also is over 2.5m and the Tweed is pushing 2.5m, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms, I'll just have to open a btl a whisky and sit at the vice instead 🥃

Used a di 7 line and 3 beads 12 to 18 inches apart before now. Not much fun, but gets you out. I only do it if visibility is reasonable and i have an itch to scratch.
I think I've got this work life balance thingy right.

That is to say I spend more time in work thinking about fishing than I spend fishing and thinking about work!

Bummer about your pops, Westie. Condolences.

Good thing you have that final, drugs and hooker-filled Christmas send off to remember a top all the other good - one last hurray.

    Wait...

    You took our advice, right?

Surely our ancestry hasn't diverged so much that you lot over there can't learn to dress correctly? Here is a nice self help video from the same folks, showing how it's done.

Now, where is my dicky bow, I have a game of soccer to watch this afternoon which gets nicely back to the thread topic...
My daughter is playing in a match in the local women's football league. It's her first season in adult football as a 16year old. I am really looking forward to it.
