    Default Spey line rating

    Hi My rod is a 13ft 8/9 i have seen a spey line advertised as just single figure 9 rating daft question i know but would it be suitable for my rod.

    Yes if its a #9 salmon spey/shooting line then it could very well suit your rod!! Ensure that its salmon rated and not trout rated #9 before buying if you tell us on here your rod and the line you mention above im sure some on here will have valuable advice on either
    Id rather have something I don't need than need something I haven't got!!

    Depends on the length of the head of the line. Don’t want it too long for a 13ft’er

    The rod is Maver Distinction the head length is 55ft which i now think is a bit to long.

    I use a 55ft line(short spey)on my 13ft rods to good effect if you have the room behind to accommodate the d loop then go for it,unfortunately for me most of my fishing leaves little room for a large d loop so i use mostly shooting heads and compact lines around 2.5 to 3x the rod length
    Id rather have something I don't need than need something I haven't got!!
