    Default Long tail icy peacock

I've been playing around with the Icy peacock fly that I entered for the first TOTM comp a few months back. Here is a long tailed shrimp version I came up with this morning. This is the first and only one I've tyed so it needs a little tweaking and it's only had one coat of varnish. But I don't think it looks too bad and would definitely like to give it a swim sometime soon.

    dressing:

Hook: size 9 silver salar double
Tail: White and kingfisher blue bucktail blended together with two strands of pearl micro flash over top
    Tag: Small silver oval
    Body: pearl glister
    Rib: Small silver oval
Wing: Black squirrel with two strands of kingfisher blue Krystal flash over and peacock sword on top of that.
hackles: Two turns of Kingfisher blue cock with silver badger cock over.
Thread: white changing over to black for the head.

Thanks for your kind words guys, I'm going to try and give it a swim tomorrow. Probably not the best time of year for the colours but at least it should stand out from the leaves.

It very nearly got a red head as I pricked my finger on one of the hook points. Goy blood all over the spool of white thread.

Incidentally I've had enough of uni thread all together now. Thread that gets tangles on the spool coming off, thread that is already broken on the spool, thread that snaps all the time while hardly putting any pressure on etc. etc. At least the 4 spools I've had have been poor.
