    Patriot Doubles

Has anyone else had trouble with these hooks in so far as the points become blunt after a short time. During my carp and barbel fishing days I checked the sharpness of the hook at every opportunity and when people queried this answered with "I catch more fish on new hooks". The truth was I...

    River Tyne 2020

Giving the North Tyne a go tomorrow, first outing since my day at Bywell about a month ago(one fish lost). It's a hell of a drag at just over 400 miles round trip. Maybe I will try the Ure next.

    Fantastic spring on Tweed

OK I'm English but I have fished both the Tweed and the Spey as recently as last year and I'm pretty sure they are more than 10 mile apart.

    New Switch Reel

That's great thanks. I asked because I'm in the same boat. I have a Lamson Velocity 3.5 for my switch rod but I also have a 12' 6" short double hander and I'm struggling to find a reel to match it. I've looked at the Danielsson H5D and may end up with one but it is a significant amount of cash...

    New Switch Reel

Can I ask why the Traxion 2 when similar sized reels in the Traxion 1 & 3 ranges are much lighter?

    River Tyne 2020

When it comes to line I have always felt that BS and Diameter make very little difference. Quality line tied with reputable knots and with care covers it all. Have you every tried to snap 12 lb line fitted to a rod and holding the rod in a fighting position. Please don't rods are too expensive...

    Lamson Reel 3.5 or 4

I think the 3.5 Litespeed or Speedster should be no trouble. The Velocity 3.5 should also be no trouble if using gelspun backing. The size 4 reels are IMO too heavy for the rod except the Velocity which would do at a pinch. I have a spare Litespeed LS4. Still searching.

    Lamson Reel 3.5 or 4

I'm looking for a Lamson 3.5 in the larger size ranges (Litespeed/Speedster etc.) or 4 in Velocity.

Dealing with public on the river

I was settling in for an evening session when 5 youths on jet skis came past followed 5 mins later by another 2. Given that the river at this point was not very wide and non navigable I was less than delighted. I said nothing and went home.

    Hardy Zephrus 12'6" 7/8

Thanks for your input, 3 out of 3 in favour. The next question is which line to use, I am looking at a Rio Short Scandi VersiTip with 10' tips but I've never used one. Any suggestions?

    French Fishing

Help I'm taking the boss for a week in Normandy during July as she kindly "allowed" me to have 6 weeks on the Findhorn this year. By a stroke of good fortune (?) I have discovered that we will be in the hot spot for French sea trout fishing. It is too good an opportunity to miss so I tried to...

    Lamson 3.5

I am desperately seeking a reel to match my 13' 7-9 rod. I have Mackenzie running line and 8/9 shooting head but I wondered if even with gel spun backing would it fit a Lamson 3.5 (perhaps not the smaller Konic) but the other models. Any help appreciated.
