    Dee success

A slightly late report from a fairly recent trip to the Aberdeenshire Dee. Myself, my wife my brother and sister in law had to compete with extremely low water but did ok despite the lack of water. We had to fish early and late as you can see from the pictures to get any success as the daytime...

Black and Yellow for all ocassions

A set of flies I've tied up for my father's birthday. You won't often find him with anything other than a black and yellow fly on the end of his cast. However when questioned about this behaviour he always comes back with the same answer and a grin on his face "it's all I ever catch them on"...

Size 13 Tronach Shrimps - You decide

I was looking for inspiration this evening for something to tie and happened across the sticky "A Tay Shrimp Collection" by DrPatrickT which by the way if you haven't looked is a brilliant post and well worth its for want of a better term "sticky status" I loved the look of the Tronach Shrimps...

    Swinford Blue Shrimps

Getting into tying Irish shrimp flies recently, although I fish mainly Scottish rivers, I'm sure they'll work just fine. Fairly new to this style of fly so I'm still figuring out proportions and where the hackles should be in relation to tail and each other. Hook - Kamasan B175 Tag - Oval...

    Freestyle Scandi Pattern

I found some old style singles in the bottom of my hook box and decided to see what happened as I went along. I don't tie much only singles/hooks as I mostly use tubes but I hope to give this a swim next spring in the cold waters of the Dee. A mix of various hackles and fox wings as follows...

    Yellow Pot Bellied Pigs

Couple of PBP's tied today. Some tied with palmered body hackles and others with 3 hackles spaced equally, rear middle and front. They all have subtle differences as I like a choice when I am on the bank and different water I'm fishing. Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk

    Recent tying

Haven't posted any flies for ages. A couple of flies I have tied for an upcoming trip to Woodend on the Dee at the begining of April. Sorry about the fake JC, I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need to worry about spending nearly £70 on a new Cape! Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk

    Dee Success

A couple of photos from a recent trip to the river Dee. Further on from last year's report ("Dee success" thread) where a few forum members said the girlfriend at the time wasn't for catch and release, I did the honourable thing and we got married at Ballogie house on Deeside in September 18...

    Salmon Fishing In Yorkshire

Good Morning All, I am after some advice on salmon fishing in Yorkshire in October. I am based in Cambridgeshire (salmon fishing desert) and fishing in Yorkshire appears to be the closest to me geographically. I have been fortunate so far to do the entirety of my salmon fishing on the Dee in...
