Advice- where to go - Wild Scotland fishing trip

Stunning location, lovely river and you can feed the Badgers in the evening from the front door if you have any peanut butter sandwiches. Cabins are nice and located yards from the river. Also river Alness with a loch at the top, don't know about log cabins though.

    Trout rod advice

Tried a bloke xgnp 9ft 6in for a 7wt and also a 6wt. American made blank with Graphene, really nice rod more of a parabolic action

    Trout rod advice

Looking for a rid that casts without much effort, more mid or slightly through action. All the modern rods seem to be fast action a bit stiff for fast tip recovery,

    Trout rod advice

Thank you all for contributions, I think I've narrowed it down to a vision onki, and an older sage. I'm going to try one of Mick bells xgnp graphene rods next week and then all I've got to do is find whatever I choose. My go to rod at the moment which I've had since they came out is a carbotec...

    Trout rod advice

I've taken all your replies on board thank you for all advice, I've got a 9ft 5 wt in fact I've got most combinations but I'm short of a 9.6in which is definitely a consideration, but I really want a 10ft. The 10ft xp that I tried was spot on so anything similar to this would be the one. I will...

    Trout rod advice

I only use a team of three wet flies or buzzers and I need the length due to using very long leaders, I may consider a 9.6in. I have a 10ft 5 weight but I find it hadn't got the back bone for some of the rainbows, they will strip 50yds of line off your reel.

    Trout rod advice

I think the sage would be good in a six weight, good to have other people's opinions, the rainbows at Wimbleball are amazingly strong so the rod has to have some backbone. My six weight carbotec is a shade light but nearly there.. Still looking
