    A Red Sandy

A Red Sandy that I tied yesterday. Tied tips down, but looks tips up because a spent a little while shaping the feathers before tying in.

Who's Happy with Brexit Now ?

No desire from Westminster to change this. A strong desire from the Scottish Government to pursue excellence in tech and life sciences but apparently people don't want to vote for that.

Who's Happy with Brexit Now ?

We never wanted to let any contracts to UK companies. Thatcher decimated manufacturing to the point that we struggle to build anything. I understand the reasons behind this as she knew it would be difficult to compete on a world stage in manufacturing, so, she pushed the whole of the UK down...

Who's Happy with Brexit Now ?

The only real argument that I have heard for Brexit is that it would mean less cheap labour coming into the country and forcing wages down. This was the easy message to send out to the electorate and get them to put their mark in the Leave box, but it was also just another line of bullsh*t to...

Integrated hover / very slow inty .

The Airflo long headed single hander lines have a head length of around 40 ft. You could always go up a couple of sizes to get the right one for a double hander. Granted, they only go to WF8 but might work with a 6/7 rated double handed rod???

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

He has stated himself that "You get access, you get invitations, you get privileged relationships, if you are part of the setup" So, I would imagine that he was buying access to contacts in governments of other countries, amongst other things. Probably so that he could bribe them as well.

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

We are entrenched back in left wing / right wing political arguments, but with no real party representing the left wing any more. Whenever somebody openly mentions any sort of socialist preference they are dismissed as a "daft lefty" or "soppy liberal" or some other lazy meaningless tag...

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

Rennie, Sorry if this is not the case but, you do make it sound like all or some of the blame for the previous and the now present situation lies at the doors of the foreign workers who came here to fill jobs. If they are being paid less to do those jobs and that is forcing wages down then...

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

Productivity is not a measure of labour exerted by the workforce; it compares the output of something to the number of inputs. Labour is one input but there are many others. The Tories deliberately killed off manufacturing and labour intensive industry in favour of service industry. They used...

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

I am sure that many serial murderers would have liberal views on the law as well, it doesn't mean we should deregulate just to satisfy their hunger for killing people.

Anyone care to have a go at explaining

Anybody who thinks that the Conservative party will represent them and carry them along in the implementation of some grand plan is very much deluded. Unfortunately, the Tories can see that Labour are in tatters at the moment and are unlikely to get elected, so, will gradually implement the...

    Stuck Ferrule...Help!

The only thing that used to work for me in these situations was to get a length of bike tyre inner tube or similar and wrap a good few wraps around the rod at either side of the rod joint. This gives a much larger diameter to grip in both hands and usually allows you to rotate and pull apart a...

Tie of the Month October: 'Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long Leggedy Beasties'

Was going to do a Fairy Queen but, as I was sorting out some heron feathers this evening it ocurred to me that a Moonlight would also fit the theme. I hate the vertical kingfisher/cotinga veilings onthis fly ( they just look odd!)... so, I went with a wound kingfisher blue hackle in their place.

Tie of the Month October: 'Ghoulies and Ghosties and Long Leggedy Beasties'

Yeah, funnily enough I was also thinking of the Fairy King or Queen. There must be other classics with a suitable name as well. I might have a look through some of the old books! It is on my radar to tie the Blacker Ghost flies at some point but, not yet! I suppose there is also the Spirit fly.
