I think it’ll be the scandi route - I’ll pop into glasgow angling on the way past and grab a hardy rocket scandi as they seem a good price

Maxcatch Travel Spey - line recommendation

I’m struggling to find anyone actually selling spey lines, John Norris don’t have any other than top end ones online but I suspect your line is more than I am looking to spend for a set up which will hardly be used.

Thanks chaps, showing my naivety here! I am a lot closer to expert at most other forms of angling lol! i just tried again with a poly leader - I can just about cast now don’t think the head is too heavy but I will for tips and possibly a spey line too.

Maxcatch Travel Spey - line recommendation

My novice abilities showing again…maybe the 650gr head is ok as I made the silly error of forgetting to take a poly Leader with me so there was just a few feet of leader off the head - am I right in thinking the poly leader will grab the water and stop me blowing anchors so much? I think I’ll...

Maxcatch Travel Spey - line recommendation

Well my rod arrived today - I ordered the V Spey 14ft 6p #9-10 and the "travel spey" has been delivered which appears to be the same rod. I am not too keen on the cosmetics but cannot complain for £50ish delivered and it arrived in 9 days - I have had tackle from the UK take longer. I am a...

    Bright / neon flies

Whether salmon do I’m not sure but my 5 year old daughter was looking at flies and wanted me to tie brighter shrimps so - Chernobyl Shrimps! The first time I’ve tried adding eyes using glass beads on 30lb mono stalks which worked ok.

    The hundred

I think it is a new link per game and it isn’t every game - if you search for the team when there’s a game it should come as a top result. It also helps that my local team (Trent Rockets) are 3-0 and have won a couple of very close games. Edit. I can’t find which games are on YouTube but the...

    Bright / neon flies

Pink has been very successful for me for freshwater predators and bass. I’ve knocked up some very untraditional bright flies just so I have some in my box using bucktail I tie pike flies with

    Bright / neon flies

I thought similar, also as an experienced lure angler and inexperienced salmon angler, I was thinking along the lines of “bright day, bright lure” which works well for predators

    The hundred

The hundred is growing on me I have to admit, Sky’s free stream on YouTube us better than bbc coverage as they just show the cricket without the awful music and attempts to attract new viewers with orange reality tv nobodies

    Maxcatch!

I resisted but have succumbed and pulled the trigger on a V spey 14ft and a matching skagit line - cheaper than buying used on eBay etc so worth a try.

    River Camel

The bass seem to be increasingly evasive…the first year we went, I had over 50, the following year about 30 and the last couple of years only single figures. This is all on surface lures on the open coast and obviously is tide and condition dependent. I have tried the fly in the Camel, only...

    River Camel

I’m down in October, was just looking whether to stick some fly gear in as well as bass gear, I’ve been going for the last 5 years but still not tried game fishing.
