No experience of the V Spey, I was talking about the V Switch 11'6" #9.

    Maxcatch Rods

I had the Shakespeare #8/9 switch and I couldn't get on with it but I passed it on recently and the new owner is very pleased with it. Funnily enough, using the #7/8 switch line that works so well on the #7 V Switch rod. The #9 V Switch is a far more powerful rod and easily deals with fast...

    Maxcatch Rods

I've got 2 V switch rods, 11' # 7 which casts their #7/8 switch line (410grains) very nicely and the 11'6” #9 which easily casts a 600grain Skagit line + 10' Mow tip. Don't think there is a chart other than the weights published on the switch lines ad. They'll certainly cast the upper weight ie...

I'm definitely down tomorrow. Any Winkton fishers, it would be great to meet you. I'll start on the lower. Heading for the willows after the deep run down from the entrance. The upper, PM till dusk. Spring tide tomorrow.

    Hampshire Avon 2021

Winds forecast at over 30mph all afternoon so I'm not going to bother with the 100+ mile journey today. Tomorrow is looking a bit more sensible.

    STIFF ZIP

I spoke to Dave on this very subject not long ago and his advice was to avoid any sort of oil or grease, especially WD40 or similar as these will adversely affect the breathability and/or the waterproofing. Washing up liquid ONLY and sparingly.

    Hampshire Avon 2021

Spring tide Wednesday. Forecast wind the last few weeks has kept me away and today and tomorrow. Tuesday looking distinctly possible though. Spinning from Saturday so the wind won't be such an issue. Water temperature is good, let's hope it stays that way.

    Barrio switch line

    I have the #9 11'6" V switch and it's very happy with a 600 grain Skagit head.

    Shooting head recommendation

The Norris integrated heads are fine. They'll be able to recommend the right one to match the rod.

PACKHAM - Desalination Plant - Southern Water

I very much doubt that any reservoir would be over 30ft deep, if that's so, very little stratification. It would never be a problem down here.

PACKHAM - Desalination Plant - Southern Water

It's heartbreaking. See river Kennet for details. The upper Colne is also now under threat. A great deal of it is being sent to France as 'English spring water,' close to a massive raw sewage dumping location, upstream a few yards, obviously.

    Barrio switch line

I'd say it was a perfect line for the rods in question. 1. the Guideline JN # 7/8 Ni1 11' switch and 2, the Maxcatch 10'#7 Sky high. Those rainbows didn't like the bulk of it at all, much preferring the WF 6 JN floater. Was a great day though.

PACKHAM - Desalination Plant - Southern Water

We're not talking about long rivers with steep gradients here, I doubt the Itchen is more than 40miles from source to sea so I can't see how there could be a temperature regime change. Much as I'd like to see myself drifting down Winchester water fishing for Salmon and Sea Trout. These are...

    Barrio switch line

I'd have to get a tape measure out, will do, probably tomorrow. Used it overhead with the single hander after Rainbows last week and it didn't feel like it was overly long.

I'm afraid me and the Guardian don't go together. How about not abstracting from our precious chalkstreams at all? How about building a few reservoirs?
