Yea mate last year was something else. Everything just fell into place and we had great runs of salmon. I got 72 for the year. I'll do well to get even close to it this year

Opening my account for the season!

I've had a hectic spring with work and other commitments and have only got fishing for salmon once before today since March! Alas my 23rd birthday arrived today and my girlfriend decided I should go fishing this morning as there is nothing I love more than Spring Salmon angling. Well I was...

    Morning all..

You use a drill bit on the bead and then slot it over the eye of the treble

    Morning all..

You don't need a big nymph . A standard size 12 hares ear on a jig hook is enough

The Big Fish That Got Away Stories

Wasn't a huge fish but I lost a good fish well into the doubles one afternoon. I had landed 3 that day and was waiting to get picked up to go home, while waiting I put on a 9cm Rapala for a final throw and first cast into the stream I got walloped. I knew immediately it was a good fish by the...

    Last 2 of the season

Many thanks for the kind comment Pete. It is anglers like yourself which still gives me pleasure and happiness to be apart of this sport. I wish everyone was as nice and courteous as yourself. I'm totally flattered to be honest. Super happy my flies worked for you and I hope you get a proper...

    Last 2 of the season

Yes it works brilliant. You can tie muddler on a sliding stop knot and leave the tag end of the knot to tie the muddler on, then you can slide it up and down to adjust the depth you're nymph/fly is fishing. Mine isn't a typical muddler, just deer hair with orange globrite tied ontop for visual...

    Last 2 of the season

You're absolutely right. It's a very hard technique to master but once you've clicked onto it , it's absolutely brilliant.

    Low water Irish shrimps

It's not too bad if you use the stem of the GP to help wrap! can be nippy at the front but :ROFLMAO:

    Low water Irish shrimps

I tie my low water flies the exact same. Mid hackle is the GP and one turn of each hackle at the front instead. Works excellent on my size 16 and 18 trebles

    Last 2 of the season

Many thanks Patrick. I use mainly just normal trout flies like a black pennel but with a brass bead or tungsten depending on temperature and water height. All fairly simple , no need to overcomplicate it I feel. The fish don't seem to care about the pattern, but size and depth in my experience...

    Last 2 of the season

It was a strange season in terms of many days being different. There were days conditions were absolutely perfect with 2 foot of big black water and fish weren't running and days fish were running in drought conditions in the morning and evenings. I had a few bumper days this year where I was in...

    Maxcatch Classic Reel

Been using the Marquis on my switch rod this year. Just hard to beat them! The drag is great and the amount of line they hold is just perfect. Also to brag I won mine for £5 on a raffle

    What would you have done?

3.3mm Tungsten nymph on a size 12 jig hook, cast upstream and keep in contact as it dead drifts.. Bob's your uncle (y)
