An Orchy Butcher at size 4

Another one for the fly box. Hopefully, rain gods doing us a favour, it will get a swim in the river it was tied for in around three weeks time 🤞🤞

Francis Francis set for the Nore.

I tied these for a fellow tier in Ireland. They are the four salmon flies listed for fishing the River Nore in Francis Francis's book "A Book On Angling". It was a gentleman called Mr Staples who supplied the patterns to Francis.

    No.1 for The Nore

A strange wee "classic" from earlier today. The second time I've tied this one, a No.1 for The Nore (Francis), this time at size 1.5. It's a strange dressing but I love the colours.

    Vintage Salmon Hooks

Bit of a long shot and they've probably all been hoovered up already, but... I don't suppose anybody has a stash of the original Mustad 80500 hooks, or similar, stashed away that they would be willing to sell? I like tying classics and do them on blind eye hooks but also like tying them on eyed...

New Reel - Direct Drive or Anti-Reverse?

I've been thinking of getting a new reel for a while. I have a few modern reels but generally revert back to my Hardy Marquis, occasionally my Guideline Haze. I am seriously considering getting a Danielsson reel for my 'go to' shooting head reel for 9 to 11 weight shooting heads. I just can't...

    Switch Rod, really worth it?

I know this has been discussed before but it probably needs a straight question. Who regularly 'switches' casting styles with their switch rods? I have done this in the past with some customised rods before 'switch' became the latest thing (granted it is now a few years into the commercial...

Beware Calls to Glasgow Angling Centre!!!

A couple of months ago I had a couple of issues that required a few phone calls to the Glasgow Angling Centre. I never really thought about it at the time, but I just checked my mobile bill and because they use a premium number the costs quickly rack up. Approximately 20 minutes of chatting to...

    Football Threads - Swearing

I have removed the latest football related thread as it had descended into bitter arguments at times and swearing at others. We do not want swearing on the forum.
