    Default Allan Water 2020

Looking forward to another good year on the Allan.
2019 was a far more successful season than expected with much higher returns than anticipated.

All the best for the upcoming 2020 season

The AGM will be held on January 14th at 7.30pm in the Dunblane Cathedral Halls.

    Default Allan Water 2020

Taken from the club facebook page:

Following the Association AGM on Tuesday 14th January I can confirm that the catch returns for the 2019 season were:

    Salmon/ Grilse: 282
    Seatrout: 48
    Trout: 167

There was a 96% return rate for Salmon/Grilse which is important to sustain in order to conserve stocks and retain our river Category. Confirmation that the river will maintain it's Category 2 status for the 2020 season.

    Some encouraging figures

Not bad considering we were 40 members down on 2018 season

Also the rivers third highest catch returns over the last 10 years

Slightly disappointed with the poor turnout for the AGM but I suppose a cold January night wouldíve put some people off but on the whole a very positive meeting.

I didnít see a lot of fish throughout the season and I didnít fish particularly hard but still managed decent returns with a couple of double figure fish amongst them.

Hopefully we get good water again this season

Me and my old man are looking at joining the River Allan this year. Am new to salmon fishing. Just looking for some Information on the river, where to fish, springer, summer, back end etc. Just got myself a switch rod, just wondering what line would be best for the Allan? Do you need sink tips etc? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Gavin.
