    Pretty much do the same. I just put some resistance to the fish pulling the loop away, by letting the line slide between my finger and the cork. With old heavy "meat" hooks setting the hook after the fish took and started to make off was needed to set the hook in beyond the barb. With modern ultra sharp points and micro barbs I have never found the need to "set" a hook.

    There are some different methods which could do the trick for you. You should find out the best for your special kind of fishing. But one point is very important. Give the fish time to take proper and lift the rod after that.
