    Default What rod?

Got a Daiwa amorphous 16ft 10-11wt always used it with DT lines.
Thinking of moving into the 21st century and trying shorter rod with shooting heads .
Hearing good things about the Shakespear Oracle scandi 14ft 9in.
    Any recommendations ?

Longchuck just got one and I honestly cannot believe how much of a copy of a guideline le cie it is . For the money you simply cannot go wrong . I never cast it but I imagine it will be fine .

Sounds like the LPXE, Airflo Airlite scenario.

    Same blank, maybe ?

Stew1,sorry to burst your bubble but they are not the same blank at all.Might be similar rods with a similar action and weight but I can assure you no way are they off the same blank.Same go's for the LPXe and Airlite, might seem the same but they most deffinately are not.Pedro.

Obviously a cheaper rip off of the guidelines . Even down to the rings and handles . I loved fishing with the guidelines I had especially the le cie range but you were always worried about breakage - if you break a shakey its no big shakes .

They probably cost as much to make as guidelines hardy loop etc .

to be honest I would either:
    1. figure out what type of rod you actually want
    or
    2. look around for the best bargain.

over the last few days I've bought
    a Sage 14 footer - 49
a Guideline MMD multi tip 70
a Rio AFS Tracker multi tip - 72
a Shakespeare (Youngs) Condex salmon reel with shooting head - 17 inc post
    (lines are both brand new)

these were things I wanted - you could just look for the best buy - try John Norris s/h rods.

Im afraid they are Pete, I got that info straight from the horses mouth at the time that they were launched, one of the angling trades worst kept secrets.

On the other hand Ive no doubt that there is no connection between the Shakey Scandi and the Le Cie, the actions seem a long way different to me, the Le Cie being more refined.

Well I stand corrected!,wouldn't have believed it.I also got told by a "horses mouth" it most deffinately wasn't the case.Still as long as respective owners are happy with their purchases thats the important thing.Pedro.
