    Default Nith Evening of Hope

Martin and I arrived at the Nith last night with anticipation of what lay ahead for us. I had heard that Salmon had been caught off this beat after the 2-3ft rise on Saturday, but our first view of the river filled me with despair.

I had invited Martin to fish with me in the expectation that the river would be in fine fettle, but was very low considering the height of the water just some days before. Any how a night out away from the television was better than nothing, so off we went. It became clear that with the flow so low that it was to be hard work and with nothing showing to cover, was a bit disapointing.

We fished till darkie time and conceded defeat, my hope of us catching a fish dashed again. Oh well there will be other occasions i'm sure.

A couple of pictures I took late into the evening shows, just how low the river was.

Salmonaddict landed 2 and I lost two fish just off the end of the pipe in the Long Mains photie on a day visit last November.
Water was a wee bit higher , mind.
Lovely stretch of river and I'll be back when the water's right.

ps. Looks like Martin's been on a diet
