Thats an old netting station Paul. They used to stand in the look out tower and watch for the fish coming then swing the net.

    Default bow waves

You can quite often see fish bow waving up through the Pots and Fords, which is the beat at the top of the tide on the Dee less than a mile from Aberdeen city center. All too often they are followed by the larger bow wave of a seal.

Nope saw salmon move like this at first light on tidal stretches before.. also if you get slower calmer water above a streamy fast section when the fish power through the rapids they create these bow waves in the slower water when they arrive..that or the simply leap clean out the water when entering!!.

get yourself to the nearest holding pool Martin tomorrow morning and hook into 1 or 4 of them

Cracking pics Martin. A few seasons ago, Oliver at Ladykirk showed me a similar phenomenon in low water. The V's were not so dramatic as the ones in your photos and at first I struggled to see them but with a bit of practice it was amazing to see fish after fish moving into a pool
