    Default A Tay Treble, Murthly

I'm not long home after spending two days on the Murtly beats.

The lower beat opposite Glendelvine on Thursday fishing the boat pool where the infamous 64lb record was caught. Only one fish seen, a lump at that.

The Upper beat on Friday, again not many fish showing but I caught three for the day, on what must be one of the finest beats to experience. After 20 trips in 18 months I finally get not one, but three Tay fish.

The first one decided to excuse itself just before getting a picture, Donald gave it 8lb and it was liced and immaculate.

The second one, rather unhappy, immaculate and liced.

The third, a very grumpy one that gave a cracking scrap, immaculate and liced.

They weren't keen to stick around so headed back to the pool to sulk.

All good fighting fish with solid takes. I was the only rod to catch on the beat, with the pool being fished by the other rods with the fly and spinner between my fish, so im delighted to finally get a return for what has been a long season so far.

I doubt I'll need more than one hand to count on fingers the trebles I'll get off the Tay in my lifetime, so one to enjoy in the perfect setting on a superb beat, I couldn't fault it- a credit to Tony and Donald.

Roll on the next venture, the Spey in a week, the fly should do just as well there too I suspect.
