After a dry July, August came along and we had our first flood for quite a while on the Bandon River. The day in question was just one of those days where you know if you went fishing your were going to catch. So... what better way ti introduce my then 9 month old son to the world of fishing!! Just to be on the safe side with regards to catching, I rung dad and asked him to come along to double the chances of a hook up. In the first few casts I hooked a beauty which unfortunately didn't stick but already I could see the excitement in Cillian's face! Dad lost another but promptly hooked a salmon which finally stuck. 3 generations on the river with my wife Alice looking on, enjoying every moment of this special day.

A highlight for me was a pair of loch grilse from the boat one morning, thanks to Roagfisher on the oars. But my most memorable fish was this sea trout caught at the end of a cold Uist afternoon in late October when nothing had moved all day. I had just watched a stag on the skyline and decided to have a last chuck as the light was fading. A slow intermediate line and trusty Goat's Toe on the dropper were the answer..

Biggest I had this year was about 20 but that was a back end warrior, so here is a much nicer one from last year.
