    Default Jellyfish i

We have been invaded by giant jellyfish. These are normally about for a month or so in the spring when we also have an algal bloom ,which we refer to as “may water”.
This year there are more jellyfish than ever and they are still about. They are almost dustbin size.

Let's hope they reach gigantic numbers and kill all the farmed salmon in their cages as they did in Connemara a couple of years. Long live the Jellyfish. Hurrah!

Barrel jellyfish. See plenty of them in Liverpool bay throughout the summer

Good stuff are cnidarians with a history going back a long way via Burgess Shale etc. Real 'survivors' they are.
