    Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking brownie but with the lack of red spots and the square tail and the way it zoomed off I had to seek advice.

    I would go to a sea-trout. Been in the river for a while, so started to get some tan from environment. Normal for migrating fishes.

    Brownie, and a cracker. Probably never been caught before, no wonder a good scrap. Sea trout do colour up the longer in the river, but go darker and certainly don't take on yellow flanks.
