Why so few 12ft rods on the market

I can highly recommend the Vision Nite Catapult 12’ 2”. Finding one will probably be like trying to find hens teeth, but what a rod! On spate rivers and bigger rivers in low conditions, it will handle Rio Short Bodies of #8 or #9 with ease and I regularly use 10ft T11 tips and even some of my...

    Rio 'Fly Line Selector'

Thank you both. The downloaded files did not open automaticaly on a double click for me. I had to right click on file, open with, click on Adobe Acrobat to highlight it, then click ok. The file then opens.

    Rio 'Fly Line Selector'

I have the Rio 'Fly Line Selector' App' on my Android phone, but when I try to use it a message pops up saying "LineSelector has stopped" "Send Feedback". One could also access the same Fly Line Selector' on the Rio website; but I cannot now locate it. Is this because Rio have now stopped...

Thanks TowySewin - great couple of days on the Eachaig

Thanks for getting in touch Shug. Everything was against you, what a big shame. Perhaps you will have better fortune another time.

Thanks TowySewin - great couple of days on the Eachaig

Neil, thanks for the phone call of thanks and so pleased you enjoyed. I do not know if the Friday/Saturday rod turned up or not. As no communication whatsoever. So I do not know if he even went to the river.

A possible last minute opportunity on River Eachaig.

Not a word from the guy who had accepted the offer of the Friday and Saturday.

A possible last minute opportunity on River Eachaig.

I am very pleased to say that 2 of last seasons guests are away to fight the Argyll midges again next week. Thanks for your comment Ian and how true it may be after so long with little flows. A small rise on the Eachaig after such a prolonged lack of water could make for some impressive views...

A possible last minute opportunity on River Eachaig.

Last season I offered for free some of my 'rod days/weeks' on the River Eachaig and the reports are here on this website. I think all had quite poisitive experiences and really enjoyed the location. There is a distinct possibility that I may not make my next week, week commencing 23rd August...

    Inlines: best value, dimensions etc.

I have been looking online at the prices of ‘Inline Lure Hooks’ to replace trebles on my bladed lures (Mepps, Flying Cs etc), spoons and minnow type lures. I have discovered that they do vary considerably in price per hook; up to 23p to 30p in some cases between makes. Some makes are in packs...

    Wanted: Floating Wye Minnows

Looking for used or unused wooden floating (no copper insert) Wye minnows; any sizes considered. Please PM me with details. If pictures can be supplied for identification, so much the better. The Wye, Spey, Tay and Devon minnows are quite different in profile and I believe the Spey minnow comes...

    River Nith 2020

Again today, no sign of a salmon on whole of the beat. I must admit to giving up and surrendering at 14.45 as hands were soooo verrrrry cold. Brrrrrrr. Any news of fish seen or encountered on the Nith anywhere today? Seems like my chances are dwindling rapidly for a specimen.

    River Nith 2020

Another 7 hours on Nith today apart from about 20 minutes for food. Lovely water, but no sign of a salmon; not a distant vague sound of a splash or a wee surface movement to indicate a fish. So no signs of running fish, nor residents or spawners where I am. Advice on grayling tactics in strong...
