In answer to your question Steve, its all relative to the rivers conditions as well as temperature in early spring, but we only have the odd fish through Waddow if the river is low as it has been, with the last running water on March 31st. Looking back at the counts for the last five years...

Morning all. For those of you who like to keep a record of any fish movements up the Ribble I have the latest counts through the fish counter at Waddow. In Feb we had 6 fish counted up and 4 fish down. The up counts were 3 fish under 4lbs and 3 fish over 4lbs. In March we had 16 fish up...

In reply to a few of your points. Our sea trout night fishing is always, or mostly, when the river is low and the temperature not too high. Naturally under these conditions the flows lesson and the fish which have been holding in the runs will move into and cruise round the deeper part of the...

Morning Pete. You have to book through me and depending where you are going, top or bottom, you need a car parking key. If the top beat ie Winkley you don't need a key apart from going in the cabin there. The bottom beat is where the locked car park is. This information you should have...

Now that's a fly I've had a lot of sea trout on, when I used to night fish for them. I used to tie them on Wilson low water singles in 8 and 6

Pete. My choice would be my 15ft Clan , but that's me, My friend who knows the water well and has fished it for years, always uses a light 13ft 9 Shakespeare Scandi with a matching Skandi line, but he is a brilliant caster and like me pushing on in years so its easier for him, plus he fishes it...

This is just up your street Pete. It fishes well when the water in the pools your used to have gone. More fish hold down there as well and some pools that will suite you once you learn the waters. fishes a lot better in low water, hence the reasoning for the exchanges

Heard of three fish, none of them seen or confirmed as fresh springers. The first was hooked on a spinner just on dark and was lost round a snag after 45 mins in the dark. Another fish took hard but the fly was hanked up round the leader. The third was lost but could have been a big sea trout...

I agree its confusing and misleading to call trout sea trout by that name when clearly they are rainbows, but I think they can use it as these rainbows may have been reared in salt water farms. I've seen some of the top chefs cooking "Sea Trout " menus but when you look they are clearly...

Could it be that sea trout are farm reared as are the salmon? I must admit I've not heard of a sea trout farm reared but if the fish are all a standard size could be a possibility. Maybe one of the Scottish lads could provide the answer.
