    9/10 line advice

Gaelforce 54’ is one of my favourite mid length spey lines. Well worth the money. I would also suggest the Rio mid head which is about the same length (and perfect for your 14 footer). If you want something in between, try the Rio short head. It’s super easy to cast (~45 foot) but still offers...

    Barrio switch line

The snowbee switch is very easy to cast with a slightly more aggressive front taper compared to the barrio switch so better for turning over larger flies in my experience. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Rio chucker which tips??

It’s one of the most versatile lines I have. Seems to throw everything from a 5 ft poly to 10ft MOW / T tip with ease. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Rio Scandi 3d.. Hover /int/ sink 3

Yes. Sinking poly or tapered nylon leaders would be ideal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rio Scandi 3d.. Hover /int/ sink 3

In my experience these 3D heads perform well with poly tips in various lengths up to 10ft, subject to rod setup / casting preferences. Personally, I would not attach a Rio replacement tip to the end which are better suited to purpose made multi tip systems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bloke Switch Line 8/9 wt

I believe the Bloke switch is the same as the snowbee switch. Either way, I can say the Bloke / Snowbee switch has a slightly more aggressive front taper compared to the barrio and therefore better at turning larger flies. I tend to favour the 8/9 barrio for lighter summer flies when finesse is...

    Danielsson for 14’6” Hardy Zephrus

I have a LPXE v3 14 foot - 9/10. Was planning to pair it with a HD 11-14 which I bought recently, however on initial inspection, the reel seems very large and perhaps too big for the LPXe, so was considering to sell it for the smaller model. Reading this thread, though, suggests it would be...

I'm considering the Guideline Deep Wading Vest. Seems to offer a nice compromise between a wading jacket and a waistcoat. Any views on this product?

    Leader rings

Riverge 2mm or 3mm. I wouldn’t compromise on these. I’ve had bad experiences with lesser brands! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Tippet material for Icelandic rivers

For those with experience of fishing the Icelandic rivers, should I consider alternative tippet material to maxima and seaguar? I usually use seaguar for clear water conditions but it seems too stiff and inflexible to fish tiny flies on the end. Assume I’ll need something more supple to make...

    Simms boots

Thanks Pedro. I take your point. At the end of the day, wading boots are meant to provide protection and keep you sure-footed!

    Simms boots

I'm thinking about buying a new pair of boots. Has anyone tried the new Simms flyweight boots? I tend to cover the miles so thought these might be appropriate.

    Hooks for hitch flies

I agree with Mammoth69. Doubles in smaller sizes have not been as effective for me when skating / hitching. I much prefer a wide gape single hook. IMO, it's hard to beat Korda Mixa carp hooks which are design for surface fishing.
