    Default Slaney 2020

While it is still a long wait to the 1 April opening now is the time to get out on the river and do a bit of bank work to ensure easy access to the pools.
With the legacy of 2 closed periods and the current shortened season many beats have become overgrown with brambles, gorse and small trees blocking access to what were traditionally good pools.
As we get closer to the opening (from say the start of March) do try and get out and walk the water so as to prevent an out break of fishing by "uninvited guests".
I was out for a couple of hours yesterday clearing flood debris, brambles and half a dozen self sown mini blackthorn trees - it is great exercise trying to get their roots out.
After several weeks of high water the river was down to lovely "high bait" level and looks so promising.
This is it as the light faded.

Apologies for picture quality - you can only do so much on a phone.
