Default Another weight chart, avarage from 3 studies found on the net

The chart in post 1, makes my PB go from 17lb 2oz up to 18.5lb for the same 35" fish. ??
    that's why I averaged 3 different charts.

got to say i have my doubt's about the accuracy of the charts, my last fish was 33"" in length noise to the fork in the tale and according to the sturdy scale was 15lbs but the fish only weighed 11lbs . the fish was average for size ie girth, it was not a lean fish. anybody else with similar findings?

I'd agree there does seem to be a small but significant variance between charts. After looking at my catch book the first Lune salmon that I bothered to measure and to weigh back in 1962 was 36" long and weighed 19.5 lbs.

I also have doubts about the scale, at the end of April I had a fish that was 38" long putting it 23.5 lbs by the Sturdy scale but it was a broad and really deep fish so who knows.

Some of the fish we've seen pictured on the forum have been really chunky, especially from Scottish rivers, so presumably heavy for their length. If the head looks small compared with the body as has been the case with a few photos on here, then we'd probably be surprised at the actual length/weight figures.

Most of the fish I've caught have been from the Lune which is not known for chunky fish, nearly all being torpedo like. I can recall only catching one chunky fish on the Lune and wondering at the time if it had returned to the "wrong" river.

Heres is one I caught earlier, and question is what weight do you think this was?

It was fresh in from the sea, thick set and small head.

I think about 16lbs. its a hard one cos its so deep for its lenth. on that lenth average i would normaly have thought about 13lbs but being so deep have put a few more pounds on it.
