    Default Ff&ft

I bought January's edition because they'd promised an article on how to build your own furled leaders.

Imagine my delight when I found it was the old board and pylons/posts method I first saw described in Darrel Martin's Micropatterns book.

There may have been subtle differences but not to my skimming of it.

Here's an easy way to Furl:

So ! what part of the river has the "game" angler nominated as a sanctuary for all

fish?. The spawning streams/ rivers ? the headwaters ? the upper stretches ? the middle

stretches , the lowers stretches ? the tidal stretches ?.

Would it not be better to splice, glue and whip finish , rather than a

    Possibly.

Actually, I'm not entirely certain that is truly furled.

I don't know if you know, but you can furl hackles, and that latex thread buzzer stuff, all kindsa things.

If you furl a hackle you get a right old twisted mess which instead of wrapping you just tie over the thorax of an emerger - like a wing case, saves faffing about with parachute hackles.

Get that flexi floss stuff, furl two inches of red and black together and you have a bloodworm, wee knot at the end..

The hackle use it to tie over the peacock herl of a buzzer thorax to make a floating emerger.
