Does anybody know of a fish smoker on the Tweed system? I know there used to be one near Kelso but I cant get any info on them as I think they have shut down...

I use Ian Bruce at the Berwick Salmon Company.

He is exceptionally good, will do your slicing/packing to order.

    01289 307474.

Added bonus is that he takes frozen fish in-some smokers won't.

Armstrongs of Edinburgh (Stockbridge) are also very good.Fish need to be defrosted and smoking day is Tuesday.Generally 10 a fish.Ask for Gavin.

Campbells (also in Edinburgh) are decent but I think only return whole sides.

The advantage of all of thses smokers is that you get back the fish you put in.

In my experience Teviot smokery was/is poor, the smoke greasy and the chance of getting your own two sides of fish to match minimal.

Frank in Coldstream does a really good job.

There is some useful information in this string.
Perhaps we could develop a 'smokery database' ?
    May you fish interesting pools
