    Default Spring Spey Clave/Forum Meet.

    Guys,

How about a forum meet over a Saturday or possibly Sat/Sun that is focused entirely on tackle, casting styles and fishing techniques?

I wonder if the demand would be there for something different to what we have done in the past which is usually a days fishing and often means every man for himself apart from a social in the evening. There are so many questions every week on this forum which clearly demonstrate that there is lots to learn about spey casting and the different styles as well as matching and balancing your tackle correctly.

These kind of meets are very popular in the USA and Canada yet they dont seem to happen over here, I dont know why?

My plan would be to use the Riverdale Hall at Bellingham on the North Tyne as our base, they have offered us a good deal for dinner bed and breakfast as well as a beat to ourselves all at a very reasonable cost of between 95-125 per person per night. If there was enough interest in this I could arrange demos on the day with other instructor friends of mine who would also be happy to help everyone out during the day with tuition tips and tackle advice. We could do specific Skagit, Scandi and Modern spey casting workshops at different times during the day/weekend

The reason I havent suggested a firm price is because until I get an idea of numbers I cant really budget for any additional instructors etc. I think if we could get 20 or more people together I could create something quite special for us all. When you think what many pay for their fishing it makes this look cheap and yet the benefits would remain with you for life. The evening would be a great time to socialise and get to meet other forum members, who knows you might make a couple of new fishing buddy's?

I was thinking about the weekend of the 7/8 May 2011, anyone up for it?

If I can get an idea of numbers either by registering your interest here or by email to me at alanmaughan05@aol.com I can see what I can do.

That's not a bad start for a Sunday morning, hopefully the ball will start rolling faster when more people see the thread.

I dont know at this stage John. I need to see what take up there is before looking into finer details like that.

No problem wino, the more the merrier.

If we can get a big enough crowd I am fairly sure I could get my hands on a fair bit of demo tackle from manufacturers, this would give people the chance to try before they buy.

We could make this into something really great and hugely beneficial if we all get behind it.
