    Default storm warning

There's a really weird, heavy calm here right now, not a puff of wind. Muggy, warm day, almost like a pot coming to the boil. Let's hope Ophelia is not as dangerous as the weather men say.

If she maintains her predicted track , then the west of Ireland is going to take a bit of a hammering.
Looks like she may stay out to the west of mainland Scotland.

In any event , I'm bugggering off to the east coast for a couple of days.

    Tie it down , lads..

Jack when I first began reading your post my initial thought was "perfect night sea trout fishing conditions"...however definitely the calm before the storm. Take care over there and I hope all come through it ok.
Wishing you the best I can from where I am.

Even here in the 'frozen North' I walked the dogs in a t shirt today-bizarre for mid October!! Lovely day though.

Batten down the hatches....I hope you guys don't suffer too badly.

Wonder what Michael Fish would be saying about the forecast......

Thanks to Ophelia , an extra day on the Scillies for us as boats from Tresco to St. Mary's cancelled and flights have been suspended .
It's a little bit blowy and big swell forecast.
We are only on the edge of it here . I hope things aren't too bad in Eire !

Lets hope it isn't as bad as they are saying it might be. Due to hit Ireland at around 1 pm and then Scotland a good few hours after that.

If it is as bad as forecast, we can only hope that no-one is injured and there is not too much structural damage.

Easterly gale at present , heavy rain at times , and 15deg already.
    Unusual combination of weather.
