    Default What a **** season..

I thought last year was bad...

having moved north just before summer I was hoping for some good fishin, but there has been next to no bloomin rain

The Nairn I have miss-timed the few spates there have been, and I moved up after what was a very good spring run !

I was even going to venture onto the Ness to throw some 'cutlery' at the problem - but there is no water !

It's Oct and there is no water ?!!?!?

And, and the river close up here earlier too

so my very last chance is next Friday for a cast on the Don...

    bah...

Plenty fish in the pools though, but you need to be very good to winkle them out

FWIW, James, I met a 'famous fisherman' on Friday - one of those guys who winkles out 2 or 3 fish when all around blank. In low water conditions he advocated extremely tiny flies - e.g. micro-tubes like Frances tied on 3-5mm tubes, with hooks down to size 20 (more usually 14-16), using very light leaders. He used a Sage switch rod around 11' long, single-handed. Go gettum!

Hey, they happen. Don't get too upset about it (if you do blank). It's not as if it's completely within your control to catch a salmon or two.
