Suggestion on posts
Ladies & Gents,
I would like to make a suggestion. I was going to do this yesterday but decided against it.
I have just been reading some posts tonight as I'm away and stuck in my hotel room and thought, why?
I'm now fifty plus and have for many years avoided discussing politics and religion for obvious reasons, whilst socialising. These topics seem to be some of the two most boring and contentious for people to fall out over.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please don't try and ram it down someone else's throat on a SFF.
My suggestion is to ban politics and religion being discussed on here.
If you must then go down the pub, but be sure to tell me which pub so I can avoid it.
Andy.

Andy,
I take it you are referring to an altercation I had with another member who decided to hijack a post that was nothing to do with him?
For what it's worth , I agree with you and Wormo on both your posts.
At least contentious subjects should be confined only to the Lounge and religion a definite no anywhere.
Everywhere else should be fishing related only.
We have had a few people on here posting their farewells on the general board and quite frankly, who cares? If I decide to go no one will know , I'll just go. I have had a great time on this forum but it has changed somewhat in recent years, there's far too many rubbish posts nowadays, even Springer has alluded to that and it must be a constant source of frustration for him.
I am not going to be drawn in future by malicious posts, I'll just treat them with the contempt they deserve and I hope everyone else does the same.
And confine politics and other non related subjects to the Lounge only.
If everyone else does the same then this forum will be a better place.
But somehow, I don't think so.Respect My Authorita!!

I don't think so?
I don't think so? It was a post by someone else. It doesn't matter by whom. Life is too short to have a general fall out on here over **** nothing to do with fishing.
Like Wormo say's we're not setting a good example for newcomers to the site. We should be old and ugly enough to police ourselves.
It doesn't matter what others choose to do. Who likes being a sheep anyway? I certainly don't. If it's banned then we don't need to worry about others as they will be sorted out.
How old are we? Some of it is like listening to a load of old fish wives!Last edited by apd13; 15-09-2015 at 12:47 AM.

Aye right KR.
Where in any of the posts did I say I was having a sabbatical?
All I did say was that I am going to resist replying to nonsense threads which, although Andy seems to disagree, are not usually posted by the forum vets , but the rookies who do not seem to want to follow the examples or conventions set by long established members and do what they like. Examples recently are , all on General Board;
What do i use to attach a swivel to a bouncing betty tube?
Here we go again
Lorry load of fish dumped in bridge of allan!
And of course, the one that has caused all this stooshie,
Ta Ta (which followed on in a similar vein to Westie's swansong.
I also get ****** off by begging posts on Classifieds but that's a different story.
The examples above are why I finished my post by stating "I don't think so" which Andy seemed to take exception to.
So you can rest easy KR , i've hasted back although didn't really go anywhere in the 1st place.
P.S. Should this whole thread not have been posted in the Forum Suggestion board allocated for that purpose if we are genuine in setting an example??Last edited by keirstream; 15-09-2015 at 09:42 AM.

If I was to make suggestions about posts I would simply ask people not to use foul language.
It creeps in every now and again and is unacceptable if you ask me.Last edited by let them all go; 15-09-2015 at 10:56 AM.

It's a forum so I think there should be areas for healthy debate on all kinds of subjects.
If you don't like a particular subject matter then don't get involved in it.
One thing a forum does is bring out peoples personalities and nothing does that more than religion and politics.
In a way that's a good thing because you can chose who you want to interact with and who you don't.
I think the forum is just great as it is
p.s. I hate you all you b@st@rd$

We have to discuss politics in some form Andy because it plays a big part in the future of our sport.
As for religion I think there has to be some discussion there too because all the Scots on here go to church on Sunday. They might as well though because they can't fish for Salmon. What else is there to do.."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." -Edmund Burke

Ah, now the racist card eh?????
I'll leave that for the self imposed moderators to deal with.
But you are right Simon, no politics, no reaction or indeed action to oppose the outrageous proposals enshrined within the WFR for example.
We just meekly go on talking about bouncing betty swivel placements and how best to deal with digging worms in the bright sunshine or even, perish the thought, rotting fish in the douce , leafy suburbs of Bridge Of Allan.
In the meantime the politicians walk all over us.
