    Default Where to go....

    Hi all,

Unable to come to a decision on where to go on my weeks fishing in August. Looking for a medium sized river, not too big but also big enough to swing my thirteen footer about and reasonably priced with good prospects......!
Have tried the Don, Esk, Annan, and am tempted to give either the North esk a go this year or maybe the Tummel?! If any of you have any advice on which beats, tactics etc that would be great, or feel free to make any reccomendations on other rivers. I have two trips planned so I could try a few out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Doesn't matter how far north to be honest.

Yeah, the North Tyne's shrunk quite a bit above the Rede - Hesleyside's a nice beat - comfortable with a 13fter - and the trout fishing could be picking up again in late August.

Alness is a personal favourite of mine, a real hunters river

What's your budget, all in, if you don't mind sharing that information...?

Was looking at not spending more than 100 a day max. I have spoken to Neil Anderson on gallery on the North esk and that's 90 a day in August.
I do fancy it to be honest, but there's three of us so a collective decision will be made.

We are all fly purists so good fly water is essential.

    Default Chavanga river, August

River Chavanga is comfortable and interesting for salmon fishing in August. For Russia, it is an inexpensive option. I could provide you with the required information, or look at the website.

Apart from the big 4/5, your problem in August will be water levels - certainly for rivers which are generally regarded as 'spate' rivers.
Agree, the Lochy has some beautiful water over it's short length.
