Default Loch Gruinart , Sea Trout , Islay

    Hi Guy's
I posted this in the Sea Trout section yesterday but only got one bite off of broontroot52 !! (Cheers m8)
Thought more people would notice it here !!
Got a week's holiday on Islay at the end of March and was wondering if it's too early for the marks at Blackrock,Loch Gruinart and Port Ellen for the Sea Trout ?
Way too early for Salmon over there I would think but can fall back on the brownies if need be !! (A fish is a fish after all !! )
It's not the sort of place many of us will have fished (me included ) I got the heads up about the marks off a guy I met Trout fishing at Swanswater !!

Last time I went to Islay was in the mid 1970's when I was very wee. I'm sorry I cant help with the fishing, all I know about Islay is that the Whisky is like sooking iodine through a peat bog so bring your own!! (puts on tin hat and ducks)

Probably a bitty early for the ST but a good time for some over wintered Gorm broonies..
There used to be good fishing at Kilnave on Gruinart and round towards PC where the Uisage burn is, Not sure now and as I said prob to early.
I would be going up to Drolsay where you will get some belting broonies in March.

Forget about the fishing and have a warming dram of :
Ardbeg Uigedail, Laphroaig Triple Wood , Lagavulin 16 yr , or a good Caol Ila.
.......... In fact just try em all.
Not much else to do on Islay !

Could you not get a day on the river Laggan? Don't know when it opens but it might be nice to fish with a bit of water. I fished there about Ten years ago but it was July and there was no water and lots of midges. Ended up hiding in the hut most of the time!
