Thread: Rio Lines

    Default Rio Lines

Up until now; all my salmon lines have been made by Loop & they have been fantastic! But unfortunately loop don't make shooting head lines anymore. (I have the opti adapted kit for my LTS, and the adapted pro kit for my Greyline

The only Rio line I have used was a windcutter approx 10 yrs ago.

I have just bought donnies loop 13ft greenline #9 from the classifieds which will become my summer rod

What line am I best getting for this?

Some have said getting a Rio AFS 8/9 for it ; (I don't want a skagit) but is the Rio Scandi Versitip shooting Head Kit what I'm after ?

Or there something better out there ?

I'm not at home just at the moment , but I have several different weights of Scandi Bodies and a multitude of various tips that I 'll try on my 13'2" Greenline and get back to you.
Probably middle of next week or thereabouts.

If you can find afs floaters and hovers in 8/9 , I'd start with them.
Both work well on the rod when coupled with long tapered leaders.
    Just ask Strathglass.

Absolutely IBM... The 8/9 AFS with 13'2 greenline is as pleasant a match up as I've tried on any combination.
