Received WOIGO French partridge from Irish Fly Supplies. Very prompt service and a lovely product at a reasonable price.

I bought deer hair advertised as WOIGO from both Sam McGowan and Rob Denson and to my eyes they are very different in colour. I would describe Rob's as virginia tobacco whilst Sam's is much more yellow. Neither are golden or olive but I doubt if this matters. The important thing is to ensure that whatever deer hair is used, it is hollow in order to make muddlers, hedgehogs and sedgehogs "pop up" when the fly is pulled. Certainly roe deer fur is suitable for that purpose. I do not know about sika and fallow. I don't think muntjac is at all suitable and I have no experience of Chinese water deer. Be careful if handling a fresh skin. Use gloves in case of ticks or keds, until the skin is treated.
