    Default Monkey hair substitute

What's the best substitute for monkey hair? Was thinking of buying some from a reliable source, then found out there may be "issues" with customs at the border, so whilst waiting on a reply from someone official like, I'm looking at alternative furs/hairs, so, what's my options?

fly dressers/anglers get very bad press by using materials such as monkey hair, polar bear fur and unicorn mane. We must stop using such materials as it will cause great reputational loss and public anger if it receives publicity. A good substitute for monkey hair is goat hair.

I'm still trying to find a good source of Pegasus wing primary feathers, and as for Cockatrice hackle, or Phoenix tail, not a lot of success either! If the Nancy brigade have issues with me using dead monkey fluff to torment a few fish, all I can say is

For Monkey flies, sunrays and the like I use either Angora Goat or Craft Fur. I don't know prospects for availability in NZ. but both are available in Alaska.

That is made with black Craft Fur, the Angora Goat is much more like the original stuff.

These are my version Wilkinson Sunray made with the Goat hair.

I like the look of that Ard- something a bit different in terms of colours. Cheers, Patrick

Goat is the recognised substitute, arctic runner mane or tail is better though.
