A rare Bernard and Son black japanned salmon fly reservoir formerly the property of Sir Joseph Ball (March Brown) the rectangular cabinet with a cream painted interior and six lift out aluminium trays, fitted spring clips and holding a good collection of 180 fully dressed salmon flies including larger examples, 15 gut eyed examples, lid interior with applied rectangular brass trade plaque, top white painted J.B. and with sliding lock pin latch, some flaking to finish both inside and out of case, circa 1920. Sit Joseph Ball was angling correspondent for the Daily Mail and wrote regular articles for the angling press under the pseudonym March Brown.
