Default getting tubes off the needle

so i have been tying a lot of conehead tube flys and i am finding it hard getting them off the needle after tying. anybody got any we tricks for sliding them off easier and stop wrecking the fly. or am i simply putting the thread on to tight?

If you find the tube getting stuck on the needle, then try using a pair of hackle pliers behind the tube. Let the plier jaws close onto the needle then use the pliers to slide the tube off the needle. This should prevent any damage to the tubing.

I.m sure someone else will give you another method, but I find this works ok.

    All the best.

    Dave.

slide a piece of mono on the needle then ur tube, works for me,when u finish tying ur fly pull the mono out and ur tube will come of easier, works for me every time when tying plastic tubes,u can never tie them too tight, tighter the better,,thats wat helps grip the inner tube, give it a try,as i said it works for me,cant remember were i seen it,maybe a tying dvd i have i think.

I use a similar method to kevs except i use a piece of old fly line which i place inside the tube then slide on to the needle, this is also the best thing i have found to stop the tube turning on the needle, never moves at all.

What has happened to me a few times with linner tubing is that I have applied to much heat to the needle when burring and finishing the head and have managed to melt some of the linner inside the copper tube thus when it re hardens is very difficult to remove from the needle.I now cut the linner about 2-3 mm from the head and use less heat. Of course this may not be where you comming from at all . PJ.
