    Thanks for the report.
That means The Severn, Eden, Tyne and Avon are all off the mark with good springers.

Went to fish a section of the river on Somerley yesterday, only to find a very happy angler in the car park - he had just had a 23.5lb springer from where I was going to thrash the water!
Oh well - c'est la vie!

Any idea how to get onto fishing this beat and how much a day ticket would cost...

Have always heard of the legendary Avon salmon and would love to have a crack.

    Cheers.

The fishing at Somerley is controlled by Christchurch Angling Club, who also have other stretches of the Avon in their book.
A member can buy either a salmon season ticket (on top of normal membership) or can buy a day ticket. Guest tickets are available, but you must be with a member.
Website is www.christchurchac.org.uk where more info is available or email me direct.

    Good luck,
Saw one heading your way at Dusk yesterday. Wouldn't stick around to play ball. River at a nice height for fly fishing around Hay.

Another springer came out on Wednesday - 23lb. A few kelts have also been caught.

Another springer off Somerley yesterday and a few other fish have been caught from other fisheries on the river.
On a separate note, the first meeting of the Wessex Spey Club will be on Sunday 20 April at 2pm - meeting place will be the salmon lodge on the Somerley Estate.
    Tightlines to all.
