Default A wee story fae the Spey

I haven't fished a big river for a couple of years. In 2012 we walked the Speyside way and just before Fochabers I saw a salmon pool and thought that I would like to fish that.

Well, on Thursday this week I got the opportunity to fish it. Beat 2 on Gordon Castle Fishings, the Rock Pool. I've attached a photo from 2015 and a photos from Thursday.

I was fortunate to get a lovely long tailed licer of 6 lbs and best of all on a flee I tied myself, a sunray sile (sile is sand eel in doric). My tying isn't the best but it seems to work.

Doesn't get better than that !

    Cracking story.

And I'd give you way more than 6lbs too!

    Default Update on the Spey

Had a return to the Spey yesterday, this time at Gordon Castle and was lucky enough to get this nice sea licer, on the same flee as last time. Gordon Castle is a lovely beat and the low water is suiting it just now, the estate has a great team of very helpful ghillies as well.
