    Default Brexit Inflation

Things have been fairly quiet since the Brexit vote but looks like we are about to see a significant increase in the price of imported goods due to the weakening pound which will inevitably result in a jump in inflation.

A lot of clients are snapping up inputs at "old" prices as they are about to be re-priced, potentially quite a lot higher.

The Unilever/Tesco situation is another example.

Still, I guess inflation has been below target for a while.....

For businesses who export a lot (and in particular export more than they import directly or indirectly), the situation is of course potentially much better.

Yes we are all about to get a hit somewhere along the line.

I was in my local gun shop yesterday for some cartridges for the weekend clay shoot and was told that the next batch he buys in will be 12% more expensive than they are now.

I can see that the strength of the Euro can push prices up but I am not sure that many companies are using Brexit as an excuse to inflate prices for the sake of it.

I remember buying 250 shotgun cartridges for 20-25 about 10 years ago. They started to increase in price and dealers were blaming fuel prices which were then at their highest. Then it was the price of lead that pushed the price up again. Since then, fuel prices have dropped and lead prices are at rock bottom and the price of shells stayed at the new high price. Those shells I was buying at 25 are now selling for 56 and that is before the 'Brexit increase'.

Better hope for a fall in Euros if you're off to Scotland!

Which is why a better idea would be to buy the river, close it to all and fish it yourself. I like the no bag limits idea though.

You could spend the rest of your cash on a big fence; or, as seems to be the fashion these days, a big xxxx-off wall to keep the proles out.
