Default Bodies?

In anticipation of a trip to Norway in August I've been tying a few unweighted patterns. I'm new to salmon fly tying and have wondered about salmon fly body colours. I've tried to experiment with different body colours (built up with a thread under-layer) covered with thin mylar tinsel. You can very nice multi-colour effects by using this layered approach. You can see that that the chartreuse body has interesting red tint. Is body colour an important factor in salmon fly patterns?
